Our Most Popular Photos

I've had my shop open for several months now, and although sales are sluggish (OK, rather nonexistent if you disregard one sale to a friend), traffic to the site has been remarkably good. That's OK - that means that someone is seeing and liking my photos, even if they aren't buying them, which is actually somewhat understandable in the world today, where money is not exactly flowing freely for luxuries like photographic prints. Of course, that's why I'm keeping my prices as low as I possibly can, making shipping rates "at cost" and focusing on amazing pictures of the best Mother Earth has to offer.

Thanks to ArtFire's administrator tools, however, I am able to see which photos are attracting the most attention. Some are expected and I predicted all along that they would be popular, while others are complete surprises. Sales or no sales, though, it's great to see people enjoying the photos.

So here are the Top 10 photos from the shop, without regard for the size of the prints, by the total number of views as of today counting from the day the shop was opened on ArtFire.

#10 Sunset Palm

Buy it: 8x10 5x7

Believe it or not, this photo was taken from the balcony of our hotel room on the beach in Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii. The positioning was absolutely perfect to place the sun behind the tree at sunset, giving us a "picture perfect" silhouette over the water.

#9 Sunset Crowds

Buy it: 8x10 5x7

Another photo from Waikiki, this was taken on the beach directly behind the Hawaii Army Museum at Fort Derussey, a popular spot to gather and enjoy the sunsets. Again, the silhouettes of the people and land lend a special quality to the photo and the deep, rich colors in the sky and clouds complete the picture. New Mexico may be the "Land of Enchantment", but true enchantment can be found on the beaches of Waikiki.

#8 California Coast Sunset

Buy it: 8x10 5x7

On a road trip up the Coastal Highway, we (of course) had to stop at sunset at a scenic viewpoint - for ourselves and for the photo opportunity. Out of the 50-odd photos we took, this was the one that just screamed "I Am Special!" and apparently our shop visitors agree. Taken just north of Big Sur on the California Coast the week before Thanksgiving, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect alignment trees and sunset.

#7 Which Way Is Up?

Buy it: 8x10 5x7

Cats - you either love 'em or you hate 'em. Clearly, our visitors love 'em! This is Cole, affectionately known as CoCo, and this cat has no bones in his body whatsoever. Seriously - I don't know how he does it. He gets into positions I didn't think a cat could get into. It's as if he has no spine, or if he does, it's made out of rubber. Whatever the case, his picture is #7 in popularity at the shop - and do you blame them? He is adorable!

Oh, and he is a rescue cat, of course! Proudly adopted from SPCA LA over 3 years ago and one of the 2 most spoiled cats in the world (for the other, look below).

#6 Waikiki Sunset #2

Buy it: 8x10 5x7

It really is difficult to take a BAD sunset photo in Waikiki. The trick, in my humble opinion, is getting just that perfect combination of shadow and light, balancing the composition of water versus sky, finding a good view that includes natural shadows in the clouds without overwhelming the picture with the light from the sun, and capturing that light on the ocean. Getting some wave action in there to add some texture is an added bonus. This photo gave me all of that, and no, it was not manipulated on the computer in any way whatsoever! This is the actual photo as it was taken with no filtering, no manipulation and absolutely no "Photoshopping" involved!

#5 Valley Mists

Buy it: 8x10 5x7

The best photos are those you don't plan for and don't stage. Thus was the case with this one, taken in some random valley in southwestern Washington state on that Thanksgiving road trip in 2008 by my husband Chris. While driving from the coast towards Puget Sound in the early morning hours on a lonely rural highway, we looked to the side and saw this gorgeous valley with this fog coming down off the hills in the distance. We pulled off road and Chris got out to take pictures, the end result of which was this gorgeous shot.

#4 Which Way Is Up?

Buy it: 8x10 5x7

Ahhh, the feline love of my life, Misty the Ragdoll. Sadly, she passed away a few years ago at the grand age of 25, and incredible achievement for a cat, but she brought much joy to our lives while she was with us. Another adopted kitty (her previous owner had a stroke at 93 and had to go into a long term care facility) she was with us for 8 years, but she was MY cat. True to her breed, when you picked her up she went limp as rag doll and absolutely LOVED to have her belly rubbed. It was not at all unusual to find her laying on her back on the floor looking like a baby seal, or squeezed into a box as tight as could be. Is it any wonder that Ragdolls are used by so many companies as the cat breed of choice for advertising?

#3 You Talking To Me?

Buy it: 8x10 5x7

Our third and final cat in our product selection, and the 2nd one still with us, Delenn is a total ham when the camera is out. When this picture was taken she was trying to be all prim and proper while there were treats being offered. Of course, about 30 seconds later the act ended and she returned to her normal ways, but it was enough to get this shot!

Note to self: 3 cat pictures in the entire shop, and all 3 are in the Top 10 most popular pictures. Add more cat photos to product lineup!

#2 Coast Sunset Waves

Buy it: 8x10 5x7

Another product of our road trip last Thanksgiving, we encountered this unique cloud formation somewhere on the coast of Northern California or Southern Oregon. I have never quite seen anything like it, but the sunset behind the clouds almost makes it look like the clouds are actually part of the ocean as they meet the horizon. The sunset colors as they reflect on the upper clouds are just amazing, and all of it together combines to make one incredible photograph. Is it any wonder that I chose this to be our signature photo for the shop and the business?

#1 Abandoned Boat

Buy it: 8x10 5x7

The fact that this is #1 is no surprise to me - it is also my favorite from the entire collection. What may surprise many is that it is the result of total serendipity! While driving from Honolulu to the Polynesian Cultural Center with my husband and mother-in-law, we were on the lookout for a spot to stop and take a picture of Mokolii (Chinaman's Hat). There was a turnout from the 2 lane highway that led to an old boat launch on the beach, so we stopped, and there just happened to be these old rowboats stacked up against a tree. Chris grabbed his camera and snapped a bunch of pictures, and Presto! we have a photo that looks like it should be on a professional Hawaii Tourism postcard.

So that's our Top 10 most popular photos by number of views on the shop at http://www.AmazingArtPhotos.com as of today. There's a couple of products interspersed among those photos that are actually more popular, but I sincerely doubt anyone is interested in looking at information about shipping insurance or "Matting & Framing" here. :)

Now it's up to you, world! You clearly LIKE our photos - now you just need to BUY them! Come on, you can do it! I mean, seriously - they aren't expensive and you do like them, right? Go check out our competition at ArtFire.com - I think you'll find that our pricing is highly competitive, our photos incredibly amazing, and our service is (if I do say so myself) the best in the world. And don't forget - this is just the Top 10 photos. We have many, many more pictures available, all representing the wonder of Mother Nature and all that She has to offer.

Birthday Sale!

So I really haven't had a lot of time to dedicate to this as I originally intended when I first setup shop. Unfortunately, that's what happens when you setup a second business and the first (primary) business takes over your life - especially when that first business is the one that pays the bills!

Since today is my Birthday, however, I am taking a break from the "real" world and focusing on more things that I want to do rather than those things I have to do. That means a lot more time spent on my photography and AmazingArtPhotos.com. So, some time working on my shop listings, maybe a blog post or two, and oh yeah - a gift for my customers!

In honor of my Birthday (don't ask which one - you can find it if you really want to know!) and thanks to ArtFire's new coupon system, I am offering a 20% discount on all items in my shop now through Monday, 9/21 to readers of this Blog and my Twitter posts. Yes, that's 20% off everything in the shop - photos, prints, postcards, mounting and even shipping upgrades - EVERYTHING!

To take advantage of this sale, just use the coupon code BIRTHDAY when you check out at http://www.amazingartphotos.com - it's that simple! The ArtFire Coupon Code system will apply the discount automatically. Of course, California residents will still have to pay taxes on the pre-shipping total, but there's nothing I can do about that one :)

So "Happy Birthday To Me, The Gift Is For You!" Want to give me a gift? Really? Well, go buy something from my shop! Seriously, go check out my photos and buy something! :) There are some great photos there that showcase the wonder of Mother Nature, each one photographed, printed and prepared with love.

Welcome to Amazing Art!

Welcome to Amazing Art!

Photography and Art has always been a passion of mine, resulting in many thousands of photos accumulated throughout the years. After many, many people telling me "You should sell these", I finally followed my sister and setup a store on ArtFire.com.

Our true business is, of course, our consulting business providing Internet services, software development and Customer Service consulting. Our goal with Amazing Art is not to make tons of money (although that would be nice!) but to perhaps share a bit of the wonder and beauty we have found in the world with others.

Each photo we have selected to be included for sale in our shop has a special beauty and wonder about it, something that evokes the incredible wonder of our Mother Earth and what She has to offer. Even if you do not buy from us, we truly hope that you enjoy our photographs and take a moment to ponder over the beauty that Mother has honored us with every day, if we but look and see it.

Our products are simple. We provide quality photographs and custom print them as they are ordered, exactly as the customer requests. Matte or Glossy finish? Your choice! Pick your size - 8x10, 5x7, 4x6. Prefer a set of postcards, note cards or greeting cards? Our photos are meant to be shared, whether they are mounted in frames on your wall or mailed to a loved one half way around the world.

Customer Service is of course a priority for us. We would be very good Customer Service consultants if it wasn't! Our Art Fire shop Policies page has contact information on it for our customers, including email addresses (so you don't have to be a Art Fire member to contact us!) and Toll Free numbers for both telephone and fax.

So thank you for checking us out and checking out our photos. We certainly hope you'll consider buying one of our products, but if not, we at least appreciate you taking the time to enjoy the photos we put so much love into.

Have a SAFE and Amazing 4th of July Weekend!
